Apprenticeship Week 2012 with CWT Chamber Training & EDI

CWT (Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber Training) in conjunction with EDI (Education Development International), has arranged ‘Job Swap’ opportunities with other CWT approved businesses on Middlemarch Business Park, Coventry, as part of National Apprenticeship Week.

National Apprenticeship Week is about promoting the benefits of Apprenticeship programmes to individuals and business and also celebrating achievement. The National Apprenticeship Week commenced on the 6th February with events organised between CWT Chamber Training and EDI

Local employers were invited to participate during the week with an Apprenticeship swap.  The aim of the swap was to give Apprentices an insight into other businesses and employers who are considering taking an Apprentice.

CWT has worked with a range of companies and Apprentices’ on the Business Park for a number of years supporting Apprenticeships as a means of developing a high quality workforce.

Apprentices’ Emma Patterson and Chelsie McClean from EDI visited Buck and Hickman on Middlemarch Business Park. Alan Edwards (Head of Business Systems at EDI) accompanied two of EDI Apprentices’ and sent this report on the success of the event that took place on Monday.

“They were obviously nervous and shy at the beginning but they quickly found their feet once the ice had been broken with a number of questions. They looked to be enjoying the experience and the staff at Buck & Hickman were very accommodating. All in all a good experience had by all”

Ellie O’Sullivan from EDI is expected to visit Coventry Airport on Wednesday

De Marko Solicitors Apprentice Aaron Turnbull welcomed Lisa McKeown from EDI.  Diana Crone, Office Manager at said “I am delighted that De Marco Solicitors have been able to participate in the exchange programme with other companies on the Middlemarch Business Park for Apprenticeship Week.  Aaron, our apprentice, was able to show our visitor Lisa what work in a solicitor’s firm entails and also had the opportunity to visit neighbouring companies and spend time with other apprentices locally. As a firm we have also gained from this opportunity to build relationships with local companies on the business park.  
A number of employers from Middle March Business Park are involved in Apprenticeship week: EDI, Buck and Hickman, De Marco Solicitors and Coventry Airport.
