Rachel Owen began attending CWT Chamber Training's Leamington Spa centre in April 2014 after being referred from CSWP (The Careers Guidance Company) following a period of bullying during her previous training.
Since joining CWT's Early Years Care programme, Rachel has been gaining valuable new skills working with our experienced Early Years and Functional Skills Tutors.
Understandably, Rachel was at a very low ebb following her experiences. Whilst Rachel has been attending training at the centre, she has also spent quality one-to-one time with CWT's Recruitment Advisor Kate Glazzard who has helped to develop Rachel's confidence and teamworking Skills.
Kate Glazzard said, "Rachel came to us with very little confidence and was hiding behind our local CSWP officer when we first met. During the tour of our facilities in Leamington she was walking behind her advisor and just peeping out occasionally."
"Each Friday, we invested time to gradually build up Rachel's employability skills and confidence. Rachel has also become an integral part of the Early Years Care group, learning how to interact confidently with her piers when taking part in practical activities."
Whilst Rachel has been attending CWT, she has also taken the opportunity to develop her Functional Skills in Maths, English and IT with our dedicated Functional Skills tutor.
Rachel has developed a range of essential skills including valuable interview techniques, achieved through role play scenarios around how real interview situations might take place. Rachel is now very excited about taking the next step – into a Traineeship programme with CWT.
The next challenge for Rachel was attending her very first job interview with one of our local nurseries, where she was successful! Rachel will now start out on a Traineeship within their nursery setting. Once Rachel has completed her Traineeship in Early Years Care, the Nursery will have the opportunity to enrol Rachel onto a full Apprenticeship programme in Early Years Care.
Good luck Rachel!
