Millie Young’s 1 Million Mentor (1MM) Story

Hi, I’m Millie Young, I started my HR Apprenticeship at Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce in January 2023 and I’m really enjoying it. As a business administrator apprentice with Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber Training, I am gaining great experience in the workplace, leading on projects, supporting colleagues and communicating key information across the organisation.

Having experienced the final stages of schooling during the pandemic, I was proud of my achievements in A-level History, Biology and Psychology, despite the disruption. It has taught me how important it is to move forward, take the next steps in life and make plans.

Now that I am starting out in the world of work, I am determined to progress, build my confidence and meet new challenges.  When Chamber Training explained about the One Million Mentors programme, I jumped at the opportunity to work with a mentor, gain further support and guidance as well as meet different people with other perspectives. My goals for the future are to learn new skills and knowledge, achieve my apprenticeship and gain my CIPD qualifications as I become more experienced in HR. The One Million Mentor programme will contribute to my development, provide additional support to plan my career and I am really grateful to Chamber Training for facilitating the opportunity as part of my apprenticeship. This is an exciting time for me, as I can see a clear career path which I am going to take full advantage of. I think apprenticeships are such a valuable way to gain exciting experiences, meet new people, continue to study and get qualified in your chosen career.
