Sidney Stringer Mock Interviews!

Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce Training has a team of specialist advisers with a strong track record of working in partnership with schools to raise the students awareness and understanding of their future employment. The team recently worked alongside Year 11 students from Sidney Stringer Academy to support their skills in writing a professional Curriculum Vitae.

Sharon Stevens the Business Development Manager at Chamber Training who led the event said: “We work closely with the students to support their understanding and the importance of completing an effective job application form and help support students in preparing a good CV, and ensuring it includes the relevant information. The mock interviews support students to identify their strengths, skills, and aspirations and how they should apply them in an interview situation.

Mock interviews with employers were arranged like Jaguar Land Rover, Severn Trent, Coventry City Council, One Million Mentors, Warwick HR, AGCO and the Department for Work and Pensions.  For the majority of the students, the interviews were the first time they had been in contact with employers in a professional concept, so this was a valuable opportunity to gain feedback and advice. I look forward to an ongoing positive working relationship with Sidney Stringer, supporting their careers, advice and guidance.”

Michelle Machin from Warwick HR says: “I had such a lovely time. Although it was good practice for the students, I definitely got a lot out of it as well and made sure we had a laugh doing it. The students were so lovely and the school hosted a great careers event alongside the interview panels. I highly recommend other employers/employees putting themselves forward to do this - we were all this age once and it definitely grounds you taking a small chunk of time out of our busy corporate lives to spend some time with our employees of the future!”

Marie Brierly from AGCO says: “I spent a great morning meeting Y11 students from Sidney Stringer School practice their interviewing skills. Conversation topics with the students I interviewed ranged from Finance to Football to Mechanical Engineering to Early Years as well as fame, travel and how (surprisingly for some!) exciting and modern tractors are nowadays! Thank you at C&W Chamber Training for inviting me.”
