Friday 13th turned out to be a very good day for Dayle Adams, Managing Director and owner of © Flip-In Hair Limited.
After setting up the organisation in 2009, Dayle developed the business and achieved the prestigious accolade of SME / Business Start Up winner at the Coventry Telegraph Business Awards, held at the Ricoh Arena on the 13th May.
Based at Harbury, in the heart of Warwickshire, the company specialises in producing revolutionary ‘Flip-In’ human hair extensions which, unlike conventional products of that type, causes no damage whatsoever to existing hair. ‘Flip-In Hair’ extensions fit, invisibly to the head, and not the hair itself, meaning no awkward clips. glue or weaving. Moreover, the extension literally takes about 1 minute for the wearer to ‘flip-in’ and 1-2 seconds to remove.
The extensions are ethically produced in Flip-In Hair’s Production Department, and subsequently packaged and distributed by the company’s own dedicated staff. The extensions are sold throughout the UK via hairdressing salons, fashion outlets and beauty salons.
Due to increasing interest from overseas, Flip-In Hair now have distributors in Benelux, Germany, Denmark, Slovenia and Ireland. Discussions are currently underway, designed to expand export sales further, to incorporate Cyprus and the main areas of the Iberian Peninsula, such as Spain and Portugal.
Expansion has been such that the business now employs 17 full and part time members of staff, and encompasses three premises across the region. In addition, larger production and office facilities are being purchased, in Southam, to accommodate the planned expansion programme.
At the event, Dayle could barely contain her delight, commenting “to be recognised by experts in the business community is a real achievement and I am thrilled, not just for me, but also for my staff, who have made all this possible”.
"Looking toward the future Dayle continued “ In addition to expanding current product and service lines, I see new product development as being complementary and helping to provide a stronger base on which to continue organisational growth. To this end, I have a number of product ideas in mind and will be looking to develop them in due course. Overall, the future for Flip-In Hair is very exciting”.
“However, to enable this to happen I recognise that I will need to help my staff reach their full potential, which means staff development is vitally important”.
Training of staff, to ensure they are all best equipped to meet the exacting business and customer satisfaction standards of the modern day, is therefore of paramount importance to the organisation.
Dayle, herself, is currently undertaking a business Foundation Degree in Leadership and Management, at CWT Chamber Training. A number of staff members have also successfully completed or are presently studying for Institute of Leadership and Management Diploma and NVQ’s in Customer Service. In preparation for the future, another staff member will shortly be embarking on an Accounts Apprenticeship.
