Retailing, Warehousing and Distribution NVQs at Levels 2 and 3

If you work in retail or distribution then these awards could be for you. They allow you to prove you have the skills to work in a range of areas within the industry, such as keeping the workplace healthy and secure, managing stock levels and giving customers the best impression. In a complex business, no two shops or distribution units are the same and individuals need to adapt to different circumstances. NVQ''s will provide you with the opportunity to develop the skills you need to progress in the industry.

Course Content

Each NVQ contains a wide range of units to allow you and your employer to tailor your qualification to your requirements. At all levels you will be able to apply knowledge, understanding and skills to meet national standards. Units include the following:

Retailing

  • Security in the work place
  • Stock storage and order processing
  • Preparing products for sale
  • Merchandising and selling goods
  • Dealing with customers & payments
  • Stock management
  • Customer services
  • Hygiene & goods movement

Warehousing & Distribution

  • Health, safety & security
  • Receive goods & materials into storage
  • Maintain the quality of goods in storage
  • Dispatch goods & materials
  • Audit stock levels & stock inventories
  • Pick stock & assemble orders
  • Process returned goods
  • Maintain the safety of high risk goods
  • Lift, transfer & position goods
  • Modify systems for distributing stock

What level is right for me?

Generally speaking in retail, level 2 is appropriate for sales advisors, customer service advisors, product advisors or similar roles. Level 3 is designed for department, section and team leaders, specialist sales advisors and owners/managers. Level 2 warehousing and distribution covers the skills required across workplaces in the industry, including areas such as the storage and handling of high risk goods and materials. Level 3 includes the skills necessary for the management of sophisticated stock storage and distribution systems, as well as providing the opportunity to develop people and resource management skills.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. However you must be working within retail or distribution at the appropriate level, either full-time, part-time or on a voluntary basis in order to generate the necessary evidence to prove competence. CWT will guide you on this.

Duration & Format

Completion is anticipated within 9 months per level. The agreed number of visits will take place at your premises. You will be appointed a personal Assessor who will visit you in the workplace to assess progress on portfolio development and conduct observation sessions.

Prices

£775 (Chamber member) or £855 (non Chamber member) per delegate @ Level 2
£950 (Chamber member) or £1045 (non Chamber member) per delegate @ Level 3.
Prices are plus Awarding Body registration and certification costs and subject to VAT.
