This is essential for those wishing to develop their role and take responsibility for internally verifying NVQ assessment practice. It offers progression from an Assessor’s role and encompasses all aspects of quality assuring NVQ assessment.

Course Content

The award will enable you to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of quality assurance arrangements within NVQ assessment practice and demonstrate that you can manage an NVQ centre and its interface with Awarding Bodies. You don't have to train assessors directly. Your responsibility is to ensure assessor training is provided if required.
The Internal Verifier Award (V1) represents 1 unit, consisting of the following 4 parts:

• Carry out and evaluate internal assessment and quality-assurance systems
• Support assessors
• Monitor the quality of assessors' performance
• Meet external quality assurance requirements

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. However this Award is appropriate for you if your role involves:
• Evaluating the internal assessment process
• Monitoring and reviewing internal assessment audit systems
• Carrying out related internal verification or moderation activities

Duration & Format

An introductory briefing is followed by one to one support from CWT in developing and understanding internal verification practices. You must demonstrate your ability to internally verify assessment practice over a period of time. The award is achieved by compilation of a portfolio of evidence. Duration is dependent upon the individual but an indicative duration is between 3 – 6 months.
