Train to Gain

What is Train to Gain?

Train to Gain is a new service introduced in 2006, designed to help businesses get the training they need to succeed.

If your business is to be successful your employees need to have the right skills to do the best job. The Train to Gain programme gives businesses the opportunity to gain support in training employees to an NVQ level 2 or 3 qualification.

Train to Gain offers funded nationally recognised qualifications that are delivered in the workplace, at your convenience. Employers that have already taken advantage of the Train to Gain initiative have found that staff motivation has improved as well as productivity, whilst simultaneously showing the company’s commitment to staff development.

A CWT adviser will work with you to carry out a free review and analysis of your business needs to assess what skills your workforce needs and what you might need in the future, based on a clear understanding of your business goals. Employers who have not traditionally delivered skills training to their employees will learn how to go about it.

This will help you to identify:

  • Funding available (fully funded at level 2 and partially funded at level 3)
  • Professional advice leading to a detailed training needs analysis
  • The type of training that best suits your needs
  • How the training is delivered
  • Which qualifications your employee will benefit from most
  • A tailored training programme

Within the Train to Gain programme CWT offer through their specialist trainers, training at NVQ level 2 and 3 in:

National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ’s) are a respected award demonstrating occupational competence. Delivered in the workplace, they provide a flexible training solution with minimum disruption to day to day operations. An NVQ is an excellent way of gaining a formal qualification.

How are NVQ’s achieved?

NVQ’s are achieved through assessment and training. Assessment is normally through on-the-job observation and questioning. Evidence is produced to prove learners have the competence to meet the NVQ standards. Learners are appointed an Assessor who will sign off units when it is proved that the standard has been met. The Assessor will test knowledge, understanding and work-based performance to make sure that learners can demonstrate competence in the workplace.
